FDP Mastery: Fix the Gaps Before Secondary School

Help your child feel calm and confident in maths again. This 12-week programme rebuilds deep understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages — before small gaps become big problems.

If your child used to feel 'good at maths' but now struggles with fractions, decimals or percentages, this programme was created for them.

This isn't about tricks or shortcuts. It's about rebuilding understanding from the ground up — before gaps become crises in secondary school.

Why it matters

Fractions, decimals and percentages underpin almost everything in secondary school maths — ratio, algebra, equations, and beyond.

Many children get by using memorised tricks like "flip and multiply" or "move the decimal point." But when maths becomes more demanding, those shortcuts fail.

Confidence drops. Homework becomes a battle. Anxiety creeps in.

The problem isn't ability, it's hidden gaps in understanding.

How this programme works

We start with a snapshot: After enrolment, your child completes a brief questionnaire about fractions, decimals and percentages — not a test, just a way for me to understand their current thinking and get to know them as a learner.

Then, over 12 weeks:

  • Self-paced video lessons (5–15 min) with weekly tasks and individual recorded feedback

  • Live group sessions (45 min/week) to tackle confusions and work through problems together

  • Ongoing support via email, plus optional 1:1 catch-ups when needed

We start with concrete, hands-on understanding like building a fraction wall with paper strips in Week 1. Then we carefully connect fractions → decimals → percentages, so nothing feels disconnected or random.

This is mastery learning: deep understanding before moving forward. No rushing. No cramming. No gaps left behind.

Who it's for?

This programme is ideal if your child:

Is in Year 5 or Year 6

Needs to rebuild understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages

Used to feel confident but now struggles with FDP

Inclusive by design: The programme uses research-based, concrete methods (manipulatives, visual models, step-by-step progression) that support all learners, including neurodivergent children and those with SEND

The result

By the end of 12 weeks, your child will:

  • Understand fractions, decimals and percentages deeply — not just remember procedures

  • Feel confident because they actually know what they're doing and why

  • Enter secondary school with foundations that set them up for success

Maths becomes calmer, more manageable and no longer something to dread.

FAQs

Is there a payment plan?

Yes. You can choose to pay in instalments over 3 months (£200 x 3). The first payment of £200 is required as a deposit, and the remaining payments are taken monthly by direct debit. Alternatively, you can pay £547 upfront (a saving of £53).

When can my child start?

I start a new group at the beginning of each month. Each group has a maximum of 8 children who all start together and progress through the 12-week programme as a cohort. Please let me know how soon you would like to start and I'll let you know if I have space available in the next intake.

Where / how do I access the programme?

You will receive your own private login to the Get Set Maths learning portal once I've set up your account after enrollment.

How often are the live group sessions?

Once per week on Thursdays at 4 - 4.45pm

What if my child can't attend a session?

They can submit questions beforehand for me to address during the session, and they can watch the recording afterwards in the members-only area. I encourage all children to submit questions ahead of time - it helps me design each week's live session to address what they're actually struggling with.

Can my child get support between sessions?

Yes. If your child encounters challenges during the week, they can email me and I'll respond Monday-Friday with guidance, explanations, or we can arrange a quick 1:1 catch-up if needed.

How much time will my child need to commit?

They will need to commit 1.5 - 2 hours per week to watching videos, completing weekly tasks, and attending the live group session over the course of the 12-week programme. It's up to your child to engage with the weekly videos and tasks - I don't set specific homework, but the more they put in, the more they'll get out.

What happens if I sign my child up and decide it's not for them?

If you join and it doesn't feel like the right fit for your child, they can leave within the first 14 days and you will receive a refund for the remaining weeks, or your payment plan will be cancelled for the remaining months.
